Ridge Solar Fence Lights are designed to be seen as light rather than as fittings. Fixed flush to a fence panel, deck post or garden wall, each unit throws a fan of light downward across the surface below, which is exactly what you want along a boundary, a set of steps or a raised deck edge where the hazard is the ground, not the sky.
Four LEDs per unit give enough output to define an edge clearly without lighting a neighbour's window, and because each light is solar powered and self-contained there is no wiring to route along a fence line. The panel charges through the day and the light activates automatically at dusk. Two screws fix the unit in place, and the same fitting works on timber, brick and composite surfaces.
Single units and packs of two and four are available. Along a run of fencing or a flight of steps, evenly spaced multiples produce a far more convincing result than one light in isolation. The housing is waterproof for normal outdoor exposure but should not be submerged. Run time and brightness both depend on how much direct sunlight the panel receives, which will drop noticeably in midwinter and under heavy tree cover.
