Details
Kate is the small sconce in the range, and there are plenty of walls that need exactly that. At eight inches it fits beside a narrow bathroom mirror, along a tight hallway, in a cloakroom, or either side of a bed in a room where a larger fitting would crowd the wall and a table lamp would take a surface that is already spoken for.
Oxidized brass is a darker, more settled finish than polished or satin brass. It reads as antique rather than new, which makes it a natural fit in period properties, and it is forgiving of fingerprints and water marks in a way bright metal is not, which matters in a bathroom or a busy hallway where the fitting gets brushed past constantly.
Small sconces work best in multiples. A pair either side of a mirror or a bed, or a regular run along a corridor, gives a rhythm that a single fitting cannot; one small sconce alone on a large wall tends to look lost. The fitting is damp rated, so bathrooms are within scope, and it is hardwired, so installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician. Set the pair at matching heights from the floor rather than from the mirror, as bathroom mirrors are rarely hung level with each other.
