Locke Outdoor LED Wall Sconce, 18-Inch

Locke is an exterior sconce with integrated LED, textured black metalwork and a frosted glass diffuser. The frosting is the detail that matters outdoors: it hides the light source completely, so the fitting glows evenly instead of showing a bright point that draws the eye and dazzles anyone approaching the door at night.

Textured black holds up better outside than a smooth painted finish. It disguises the marks that weather and handling leave on any exterior fitting, and it sits well against brick, render, timber cladding and stone without competing with any of them. At eighteen inches this is the medium size, which suits a front entrance, a garage door or a wide facade panel.

The fitting is wet rated, meaning it is designed for direct exposure to rain rather than only for sheltered positions under a porch roof, so it can be used on an open wall or an unprotected entrance. The LED is integrated rather than lamped, so there is no bulb to replace over its life. Installation is hardwired and should be carried out by a qualified electrician to local electrical code, ideally on an RCD-protected circuit. Mount it at a height that lights the threshold and the step rather than the wall above the door, which is where exterior sconces are most often set too high.
