Macrocosm Glass Globe Chandelier

Macrocosm arranges glass globes on slender arms at varying heights, so the fitting occupies volume rather than a single plane. The effect is closer to a constellation than a conventional chandelier, and it is what allows the piece to fill the awkward vertical space above a stairwell or a double-height dining room that flat ceiling fittings never reach.

Seven and ten head configurations are available. Seven suits a generous dining room or a standard stairwell; ten is for the larger volume, where fewer heads would look thin and lost. The glass globes diffuse the light source, so what you see from below is a set of glowing spheres rather than exposed lamps, which is the difference between an atmospheric fitting and an uncomfortable one.

Warm and cold white are both offered, with dimmable versions across the range. Dimming is particularly worthwhile on a fitting of this size, since full output is rarely what a dining room wants after dark. This is a substantial hardwired ceiling fitting with real weight, so installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician, and the ceiling fixing must be confirmed adequate before hanging. Measure the vertical drop available before ordering, since a staggered-head fitting needs real height beneath it to read the way it does in photographs.
