Bloom Solar Garden Stake Light

The Bloom Stake Light is landscape lighting reduced to its simplest useful form. A sealed head sits on a spike, a solar cell charges it through the day, and a sensor brings the light on as dusk falls. There is no cable, no transformer and no switch, which means a border can be lit in the time it takes to walk down it pressing spikes into the soil.

Used singly it marks a corner or a step; used in a run of six or eight down a border or either side of a path, it becomes a proper scheme. The low mounting height keeps light on the ground and out of eye level, so the effect is to reveal planting and surfaces rather than to floodlight a garden, and neighbours are not left staring into a bright source.

Warm white, cool white and multicolour versions are available so the tone can suit the planting, with warm output generally flattering foliage and brickwork best. The housing is waterproof against normal rain but is not built for submersion or for siting inside ponds. Being solar, brightness and run time follow the weather: site the head in open sun rather than under shrubs, and expect noticeably shorter evenings of light through winter.
