Outdoor steps are the place where garden lighting stops being decorative. Ascent Stair Lights fix to the riser of each step and lay light across the tread below, so the leading edge of every step is visible from above. That is the detail that makes a flight of garden stairs safe to use in the dark without a floodlight glaring into the eyes of anyone coming down.

Each unit is solar powered and self-contained, charging by day and switching on automatically at dusk, which is the only practical approach on a staircase. Running mains cable down a flight of exterior steps means chasing, conduit and an electrician; here the installation is two screws per unit and nothing else, and the lights can be repositioned if the steps are relaid.

Packs of four, ten and twenty cover anything from a short deck flight to a full garden staircase. Consistency is what makes a stair scheme work: fit every unit at the same height on each riser, and light every step rather than alternating, since a missed step is exactly the one that catches someone out. Housings are weather resistant but not rated for submersion, and run time follows daily sunlight. Check the panel position on each unit after fitting, as a handrail shadow can quietly starve one light in an otherwise even run.
