Details
Trine is a pendant system rather than a single lamp. It can be bought as one head to mark a bedside, a corner chair or a hallway, or as a coordinated set of three on a shared round or rectangular mount, which is the configuration that turns a dining table or kitchen island into a properly lit and properly composed space.
The rectangular mount suits a long table or a run of worktop, spreading three points of light evenly along its length. The round mount works better over a circular table or in the centre of a room, where a linear arrangement would fight the geometry. Both are available in white, black, grey, gold and mixed finishes, so the fitting can either match the joinery or deliberately contrast with it.
The mixed-finish sets are worth considering where a room already has more than one metal in play, as they reconcile the two rather than adding a third. Drop height should leave the light source above sightlines across the table. This is a hardwired ceiling fitting and should be installed by a qualified electrician, who will also confirm the ceiling fixing can carry the weight of a three-head mount. Order the mount shape before finalising the table layout, as swapping a rectangular mount for a round one after installation means re-drilling the ceiling.
