Whitaker 3-Light Vanity Light, Satin Brass

Whitaker is a three-light vanity bar built for the position above a bathroom mirror, and the three-light arrangement is doing real work. Spreading light across the width of a mirror lights a face evenly from both sides, where a single central fitting casts shadows under the eyes and chin, which is exactly where you do not want them while shaving or applying makeup.

The clear ribbed glass is the detail worth paying for. It breaks up the light source visually so the lamps do not read as three bare points, and it catches and refracts light along the flutes, giving the fitting texture and sparkle both lit and unlit. Ribbed glass has become a signature of well-specified bathrooms for exactly this reason.

Satin brass gives the bar warmth without the glare of polished metal, and it fingerprints far less readily, which matters in a bathroom.
