Windham Small Flush Mount Light, 13-Inch

The small Windham is the thirteen-inch version of the same design, and size is the whole decision here. At thirteen inches it suits a hallway, a small bathroom, a home office, an entry or a modest bedroom, where the eighteen-inch model would dominate the ceiling and look out of proportion with the room beneath it.

Being a flush mount, it sits tight to the ceiling with no drop, which matters in older properties, converted lofts and anywhere a head might otherwise meet a pendant. The natural wood surround gives it a warmth that plain metal flush mounts lack, and the opal glass diffuser spreads the light evenly so there is no visible lamp and no glare from below.

Two or three of these along a hallway ceiling, evenly spaced, produce a far better result than a single fitting struggling to light the full run. The fitting is damp rated, making it suitable for bathrooms and covered exterior positions where humidity is present, though not for direct water contact. It is a hardwired ceiling fitting and should be installed by a qualified electrician working to local electrical code. As with any timber component, expect slight variation in grain and tone between individual fittings.
